Weingut Erich Meier
Erich Meier’s wines are a hit at the moment. Driven by his own high standards as well as his willingness to experiment and innovate, Meier consistently produces characterful wines of exceptional quality.
Weingut Erich Meier, an old property overlooking Lake Zurich, has been known for years for its outstanding, complex, distinctive wines. Lake Zurich is where the foehn meets cooling, dry northerlies, where misty mornings give way to sun-drenched afternoons, and where the soils offer excellent growing conditions – a unique microclimate in which Erich Meier cultivates nine different grape varieties on 6.8 hectares of vineyard land.
Balance
Although Meier has a penchant for trying out new methods and approaches, he has a lot of faith in tried-and-trusted grapes like Müller-Thurgau and Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir) which have grown so well for decades on the shores of Lake Zurich. He is also committed to sustainable viticulture. Balance is important to him – in both the vineyard and his wines.
Regional appeal
Not only are Meier’s wines very popular among private buyers, but they also have a considerable following within the restaurant trade. Demand for them is particularly strong at eateries serving local cuisine.
