Quilceda Creek Vintners

Quilceda Creek Vintners Paul Golitzin, Quilceda Creek Vintners

This boutique winery has been dedicated to producing ultra-high-end Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State since 1978. Quilceda Creek red wines achieve consistently high scores and are highly sought-after.

Alex and Jeanette Golitzin established the Quilceda Creek winery in Seattle’s suburban hinterland in 1978, acting on a recommendation from Alex’s uncle, the legendary André Tchelistcheff, who was America’s most influential winemaker in the post-war period until the end of the 1970s. Quilceda Creek is one of 12 oldest wineries in Washington State, its first vintage coming in 1979.

World-beating Cabernet Sauvignon

Alex’s son Paul joined Quilceda Creek as winemaker in 1992. Uncompromising in the pursuit of excellence, Paul proceeded to focus on his greatest asset – the estate’s Columbia Valley vineyard holdings (Champoux, Galitzine, Palengat, and Mach One). The objective was and still is to produce one of the world’s best Cabernets.

100-point scores and other accolades

Paul’s vision elevated the wines to a new level, resulting in some of the highest reviews and awards of any winery in the United States: seven 100-point scores from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, three 100-point scores from Decanter, and ‘Best Cabernet of the Year’ according to Wine Enthusiast.

“The best Cabernet Sauvignon Quilceda Creek has made is its next.”

Washington State

Washington is the second-biggest US wine-producing state after California. Its cool, dry climate is conducive to producing ripe grapes with firm acidity. Many Washington winemakers are inspired by the Rhône and Bordeaux.
