Domaine Serge Laloue

Domaine Serge Laloue Franck and Christine Laloue, Domaine Serge Laloue

This property is a source of outstanding Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Siblings Franck and Christine Laloue are continuing the work of their father Serge, who laid the foundations for making exceptional wine in the 1960s.

François and Simone Laloue established the estate as a farming business in the early 1930s. After entering the business in the 1960s, their son Serge decided to focus on growing wine. Serge’s son Franck began working at the winery in 1992, while daughter Christine joined the team a few years later. The two siblings took charge of the estate after Serge’s death in 2006.

Expanding the vineyard area

Serge Laloue always knew how important his vineyards were, setting money aside to snap up promising plots of land from year to year. Today, the estate comprises 20 hectares in the Sancerre AOC and five hectares in the Côtes de la Charité IGP. The Laloue family have always been passionate about their work, with environmentally responsible practices informing their approach.

Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in Sancerre

Sancerre essentially has three types of soil: sandy clay, calcareous clay and flinty clay. Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are the classic grape varieties that thrive there. In 2021, the estate acquired a new single vineyard called La Brillade – a lovely patch of calcareous clay terroir overlooking the River Loire.

“Expressing our terroir is the objective.”
