Azienda Agricola Capichera

Ever since the 1980s, the potential of the Vermentino grape has been no secret to Fabrizio and Mario Ragnedda. The siblings quickly established their estate as one of the leading practitioners of this native Sardinian variety, setting a new benchmark with their innovative techniques.

The story of this estate began in the 1920s, when the grandfather of brothers Fabrizio and Mario Ragnedda inherited a farm of vineyards in northern Sardinia – a property nestled among the ancient granite rocks of Gallura.

Vermentino pioneers

Since the 1980s, Fabrizio and Mario have known that the Arzachena region and the Vermentino grape both offer great potential. The brothers set new standards with their innovative approach, quickly establishing their winery as one of the leading Vermentino specialists. They were also the first-ever winemakers anywhere in the world to raise Vermentino in oak.

Red wines too

Gallura’s vineyards are also suitable for growing red varieties, which is why the Ragnedda family acquired additional land in Olbia and Palau in the 1990s in order to grow Carignano (Carignan) and Syrah. The estate currently comprises 60 hectares, all on prime Sardinian terroir.

Sardinia

Sardinia’s most popular grape varieties, Vermentino and Cannonau, epitomise their unique island terroir, where a mild climate, calcareous soils and abundant hours of sunshine translate into aromatically expressive, fine wines imbued with authenticity.
