Hand-picked Riesling fruit from the estate's top single vineyards, transported directly back to the winery. Meticulous selection followed by gentle pressing. Fermentation mainly in large oak casks, but with a smaller proportion also going into stainless steel. The wine then spends eight to ten months on its fine lees.
Complex aromas of yellow and exotic fruit. An assertive, rich, complex Riesling of great finesse, with lots of extract and tension.
Sourced from the second-best parcels of the most iconic steep vineyards in Rüdesheim (Berg Roseneck, Berg Schlossberg, Berg Rottland), Rauenthal (Nonnenberg) and Lorch (Pfaffenwies). Deep phyllite, loam and quartzite soils. 'Terra Montosa' is Latin for steep, mountainous land. This is very apt, considering the topography of the vineyards.
