Selective harvest involving several runs through the vineyard. Maceration (skin contact) for three to five days followed by gentle pressing. Fermentation partially in 600-litre and 1,200-litre oak casks and partially in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Subsequent maturation on the gross lees, with occasional bâtonnage (lees stirring), then bottling in August.
Medium lemon. The Rothenberg terroir lends great character to this wine. White elderberry and wild peach aromas, complemented by stimulating spicy notes. Lovely fruit on the palate, with a clear and distinct but balanced acidic backbone. The different elements are already well integrated. This wine is drinking like a dream.
Sourced from 20 of the best rows of vines within the Nackenheimer Rothenberg Grosse Lage, where the terroir consists of massive red shale with a very thin layer of weathered topsoil.
