Selective manual harvest of overripe grapes. Gentle pressing followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Long maturation on the fine lees for suppleness, texture and complexity. 'Goldkapsel' denotes that the wine was made from heavily botrytised grapes.
Concentrated on the nose, with ripe berries and candied citrus complemented by deep minerality. Rich and stimulating on the palate, with great depth and complexity. A superb Auslese from the winery's library collection.
'Himmelreich' is German for kingdom of heaven – and this vineyard's sunny aspect is distinctly divine. Soils with high clay content lend the wines a strikingly assertive character. Thanks to the prevailing topography, the vines are sheltered from wind and frost. This quick-warming terroir helps the grapes to ripen evenly and fully. Numerous veins of underground moisture provide the vines with an ideal source of water.
