This Lebanese red wine has a nose of red berries and cherries, with dates, dried fig, freshly ground spice and a touch of tobacco. The palate is nicely judged, showing good concentration and soft tannins. Persistent and complex on a spicy finish. There is more to come from this wine – if you give it enough air.
Sourced from a specific single vineyard situated near the village of Aana in the southern region of the Bekaa Valley. The vines, which were planted around 50 years ago on calcareous, well-drained soil 1,000 metres above sea level, yield a maximum crop of 25 and 30 hectolitres per hectare. Hochar Père et Fils is erroneously referred to as the 'little brother' of Chateau Musar, but it is an exceptional wine in its own right, offering great concentration and depth.
