Each of the grape varieties were fermented separately in concrete with wild yeast. The wine spent 12 months in new French Nevers oak barrels before resting for a further 12 months in concrete tanks. Chateau Musar wines are neither fined nor filtered. The property's reds are normally released after five to seven years. All its wines are vegan-certified.
Ruby colour. Intense on the nose, with red cherry, mulberry, plum, dark dried fruit, a mix of oriental and Mediterranean spice, and a touch of black tea. The palate is full-bodied without being heavy, with soft tannins providing a wonderful counterpoint to the wine's lifted acidity. This is a persistent, assertive red wine offering an abundance of fruit on a long finish as well as great ageing potential.
Sourced from vineyards in the southern region of the Bekaa Valley, situated north of Lake Qaraoun around the villages of Aammiq, Aana and Kefraya.
