Hand-picked and hand-selected grapes. Cold maceration ('cold soak') followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Subsequent maturation for 16 months in 225-litre French oak barrels as well as 350- and 400-litre tonneaux. After bottling, the wine was kept back for a further six months of ageing before being released for sale.
Intense, deep ruby. Elegant aromas of dark berries, spicy and full of finesse. Aromatic and warm on the palate, with pleasant tannins. This is an expressive wine that needs a few years' cellaring to showcase its true potential.
Sourced from the finest plots on a south-south-east-facing slope at altitudes of between 300 and 450 metres. The vines have an average age of 30 years. The soils consist of granite and porphyry. Warmth reflects onto this terroir from Lake Lugano, allowing the grapes to reach optimum ripeness.
