Selective harvest, very gentle pressing. Maturation for around 18 to 20 months in first-use French oak barrels. (Younger sibling Tanbark Hill is matured in used oak barrels.)
Intense aromas of blackcurrant, fresh red fruit, and ripe plum, complemented by subtle notes of forest floor and tobacco. Full-bodied, elegant and vibrant, with a firm texture and fresh finish.
Sourced at an altitude of almost 700 metres above sea level, from a vineyard planted in 1981 on the slopes of Spring Mountain just beyond the town of St. Helena. The soils are of volcanic origin.
