WeinManufaktur Steinbock

WeinManufaktur Steinbock Stefanie Weegmüller-Scherr and Gabriele Weegmüller, WeinManufaktur Steinbock

WeinManufaktur Steinbock is a new venture by the Weegmüller sisters, who have decided to continue making wine since selling their family estate. Their new wines are must-buys for all Scheurebe fans.

With no one in their family to succeed them, sisters Stefanie Weegmüller-Scherr and Gabriele Weegmüller sold their winery in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in summer 2021, bringing over 300 years of family ownership to an end.

Small-scale retirement project

Despite selling their wine estate and its vineyards, the sisters kept 0.3 hectares of vineyard that they had received as a gift from their aunt. Stefanie Weegmüller-Scherr refers to WeinManufaktur Steinbock as her ‘retirement project’. Her annual output amounts to some 5,000 bottles, which are vinified at a nearby winery.

Scheurebe again

The WeinManufaktur Steinbock portfolio consists of two white wines: a blend made from Scheurebe, Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) as well as a single-varietal Scheurebe. In the past, Weegmüller-Scherr’s outstanding interpretations of Scheurebe have attracted particular attention in Germany and beyond. Now that she is retired, she has freedom to explore her fascination for the grape without any constraints.
