Finca Tobella
Since 2003, Priorat estate Finca Tobella has been producing high-quality home-grown wines that offer great drinking pleasure in addition to complexity and depth.
John Lipscomb from California and Núria Tobella from Barcelona met while studying viticulture and oenology at the University of California in Davis. The couple made their big leap in 2003, establishing Finca Tobella with the purchase of four hectares of vineyard in Aubagues near Gratallops. They gradually bought additional plots until reaching their current size of 20 hectares under vine.
Old vines and different microclimates
John and Núria produce wines exclusively from their own grapes. Their holdings include some very old vines – Carignan and Grenache plantings dating back almost a century. Situated on steep, terraced slopes with varying orientations approximately 350 metres above sea level, each of their vineyard plots have different microclimates. John and Núria vinify their individual grape varieties and parcels separately before blending them to create ageworthy wines of complexity and depth.
Priorat wines for the premium market
From low-yielding vines, John and Núria aim to produce consistently high-quality, small-batch wines for the premium market.

Priorat
Known for its powerful, fruit-forward red wines, Priorat is a wine region with a long tradition. Priorat and red grape Garnacha (Grenache) are a congenial pairing, albeit the latter is often blended with other grape varieties.
