Weingut Stefan Müller
The Müller/Lapinski family run this third-generation 11-hectare winery in Krettnach on the Saar, where – it goes without saying – Riesling is the main protagonist, accounting for over 90% of the vineyard area.
After studying viticulture in Franconia, Stefan Müller took over the family business in 2013. He was in his mid-20s at the time. Johanna Lapinski, a trained sommelier, provides him with expert support.
Quality-oriented
Everything is done by hand in the vineyard and in the cellar with the goal of producing wines of the highest quality. This means generally doing away with herbicides and synthetic fertilisers and meticulously selecting only the best possible grapes at harvest. All the wines ferment spontaneously with wild yeasts, and no fining agents or any other treatments are applied. The wines remain on their gross lees in traditional Fuder (oak casks) and in stainless steel tanks until shortly before bottling, resulting in the type of uniquely light, sprightly, crisp Rieslings of which only the Saar is capable.
Recognition from Gault&Millau
For some years, the winery has been developing into an exemplary, go-to producer of Saar Riesling. The prestigious Gault&Millau wine guide named Stefan Müller their ‘Discovery of the Year’ in 2018 in recognition of his work. In the same year, the Vinum wine guide proclaimed that Stefan was “on the fast track to great things.” We are excited about what the future holds at this estate.

Moselle
The steep banks of the Mosel are home to mineral-driven, elegant wines. Riesling, sometimes referred to as the king (or queen) of white wines, is the most important grape along the German stretch of the Mosel Valley, accounting for over 5,300 hectares under vine. This makes the Mosel wine region the largest producer of Riesling worldwide.
