Tenuta Il Palagio
Singer Sting and his wife Trudie Styler acquired Il Palagio in 1997. Since then, they have lovingly restored the estate and its vineyards. Their wines are sold around the world.
Tenuta Il Palagio is situated in the picturesque Tuscan countryside near the town of Figline Valdarno, around 40 minutes south of Florence.
Tradition renewed
This remarkable 16th-century property is the private residence of Sting and his wife Trudie Styler. Today’s owners are committed to continuing the estate’s long viticultural tradition, which dates as far back as the middle of the 15th century. After purchasing Il Palagio in 1997, the celebrity couple oversaw extensive renovation work and expanded the property to 350 hectares. As well as importing its excellent wines to other European countries and the USA, the winery produces fruit and vegetables for the surrounding villages, and makes organic honey and olive oil. It also employs local people.
Tuscan wine for charity
Eleven hectares of the property are under vine. These have been farmed organically since 2000. Paolo Caciorgna makes the wines, while Daniel O’Donnell is responsible for tending the vineyards. Sting and UNICEF ambassador Trudie have been supporting humanitarian causes for a long time. Part of the proceeds that they make from their products on the estate are donated to charity.
“A wine is like a song – it has to tell a story. This is why I named my wines after my biggest hits.”
