Meticulous selection of grapes, possibly followed by a period of maceration (skin contact). Subsequent fermentation for seven to 10 days in open-top stainless steel vessels at 20 to 24°C. Maturation, including malolactic fermentation, for 14 months in 300-litre vessels. The Grenache was vinified separately and matured exclusively in third- and fourth-use oak.
Dark ruby. Fruit-driven nose of red berries and cherry, complemented by oak-influenced notes of vanilla and pepper. Good structure on the palate, with complex primary flavours and sweetish secondary notes. Natural minerality and fresh acidity provide beautiful balance, leading to a long finish.
Sourced from terraced vineyards at elevations of between 200 and 600 metres, where extreme heat puts the vines under a great deal of stress. Priorat's signature llicorella (slate) soil gives this wine the requisite amount of minerally zing.
